Join us as we pray for our communities, foodbanks and volunteer teams throughout Lent.

As Lent begins on Wednesday 5th March, we'd love to invite you to be part of our Lent Prayer Challenge, Hope Loves Nottingham, spending a few minutes a day praying for our foodbanks and community hubs, the volunteers who run them and the people and communities they serve.

Our 14 foodbanks and community hubs all do an incredible job bringing hope to local people right across Nottingham. Each is different, yet united by a common desire to see local people lifted from crisis to hope through compassion, trust and genuine care. Throughout the 40 days of Lent, we encourage you to pray for the work of our foodbanks, the activities we run, the volunteer teams who serve in them and the guests to whom they are so vital. Our foodbanks (read more about them here) are:

Aspley - St Margaret's Church

Beeston - Hope House

Bilborough - Bilborough Library

Broxtowe - St Martha's Church

Carlton - Carlton Community Hub

Chilwell - St Barnabas Church

Meadows - Bridgeway Hall Methodist Mission

Netherfield - Bethesda United Pentecostal Church

Radford (Arboretum) - Covenant Restoration Assembly

Radford (Bobber's Mill) - Mount Zion Apostolic Church

Sneinton - William Booth Memorial Complex

Stapleford - The Haven Church

Stapleford - Montrose Court Church

Wollaton - Grangewood Methodist Church

You may wish to pray for a specific foodbank or activity throughout Lent, pray for them in rotation or maybe pray for all of them at once! However you choose, we appreciate you being part of holding these communities of Hope before God and praying for His blessing upon them.

Prayer suggestions:

  • Pray for our guests, volunteers and staff. For their wellbeing, comfort and strength. That they may know God's love and provision.

  • Pray for God's provision and for all those who support us. For continued donations to sustain the work of our foodbanks and hubs across Nottingham.

  • Pray for the local communities we serve. That people feel safe, welcome and experience God's warmth and love through being part of these communities of Hope.

  • Pray thanks for the continued generosity, kindness and dedication that enables our communities to grow and flourish.

  • Pray the following blessing over our foodbanks and activities:

"And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work."

    2 Corinthians 9:8
